CASTING CALLOUT

We are looking for 1M, 1F and 1M/F (age range 30-45) to join our company for ‘The Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old London Town‘, an exciting National Tour stage adaption of the Spike Milligan and Ronnie Barker cult TV classic.

Supported by Spike Milligan Productions Ltd and Handles for Forks Ltd, this hilarious stage show is an effective Jack the Ripper parody, made famous by The Two Ronnies in 1976. Commemorating the 50th anniversary, Hambledon Productions are thrilled to be bringing this brilliant comedy to modern day theatre audiences nationally for the first time.

Roles

  • ACTOR 1 (late 20s–mid-40s) — Male. Multi-role.
    Main role is INSPECTOR CORNER – (30s/40s). Pompous, assured, deadpan. Keen but not bright.
  • ACTOR 2 (late 20s–mid-40s) — Male. Multi-role. Roles include
    BUTLER – 30s-60s, stuffy, pompous
    PRIME MINISTER GLADSTONE – 50s-60s, straight-faced, authoritative, stiff-upper-lipped
    PRINCE EDWARD – 30s, wet, spoilt, oversized schoolboy, petty
    WILLIAM MCGONAGALL – 30s-50s, Scottish, excitable, patriotic, exaggeratedCharismatic and impulsive; must balance humour with emotional depth.
  • ACTOR 3 (late 20s-mid-40s) — Female. Multi-role. Roles include
    DUCHESS – 30s-40s, randy, coquettish, flirtatious, bold
    QUEEN – 50s-60s, aloof, calm, collected, straight-faced
    MRS SOCKS – 40s-50s, Cockney, washerwoman, earnest, good-natured soul.

Rates of Pay
Successful applicants will be paid £400 per rehearsal week (£80 per day).
Successful applicants will be paid £120 per performance day (up to 4 per week), reverting to £601 per performance week.

Travel and accommodation will be provided, and this opportunity comes with holiday pay.

Important Dates and Info
Rehearsals will be held in Lincolnshire from 9th August. The production will tour to a minimum of 40 venues between 2nd September – 15th November 2026. Applicants are accepted nationwide, however, having either a Lincolnshire base or a London base is desirable.

If successful after this stage, applicants will be invited to an in-person audition in March, in either Lincoln or London.
