July Update

We’ve sooooo much to announce!!!

Tomorrow will see our last performance of Just Like That! The Tommy Cooper Show within our home area for the foreseeable future before we head up to play a part in the line up of the Great Yorkshire Fringe Festival over the summer.

We’re also excited to announce developments for our next, brand new production –¬†A Fistful of Spaghetti. This spoof western, written by John Hewer (STOP!… You’re Killing Me, A Hard to Follow, An Apple A Day) will tour the Lincolnshire area in October 2015.

We’ve also launched an exciting crowdfunding campaign for this latest show. To find out all about it, including the heaps of rewards (from original soundtrack CDs to ticket giveaways), click on the link here to go to our Indiegogo Crowdfunding Page.

June Update

Huge thanks to everyone who came to see us on Tommy Cooper Lincolnshire Tour 2015!

The fez has been put away for now, but we’re doing some further shows, at the Cleethorpes Cricket Club (21st July) and at the Great Yorkshire Fringe…

Hot on the heels of two successive writing workshops, Louth Playgoers are teaming up with local professional theatre company Hambledon Productions for another exciting summer of new writing.

Led by professional playwright John Hewer (B.A. Hons. Drama and Scriptwriting, and graduate of the Royal Court Young Writers’ Programme and Soho Theatre’s Writers’ Lab), the course consists of 8 weekly sessions exploring structure, devising plot and characters, genre, writing for other media and taking your writing to the next level.

The course will also mark the return of the excellent Scratch Night, where the writers will have a sample of their work performed in front of an audience, who in turn get to vote for their favourite piece. The winning writer will then get the opportunity to have their completed play produced on behalf of the society in 2016.

Sessions begin on Sunday 28th June at the Riverhead Theatre, and will continue weekly, finishing 30th August.

The course is open to those aged 15+ and is for anyone regardless of previous experience and is priced at just £40. All you need is a strong desire to write plus a pen and paper!

To reserve a place (maximum number of 6 participants), please call the Riverhead Theatre on 01507 600350 or visit the box office, open 10am-1pm, Monday to Saturday.

Tickets for Shakespeare in Debt are selling like hot cakes, with our final night officially sold out!

We’re extending the run by putting on an extra night on Thursday 30th April at the Riverhead Theatre, Louth.

Tickets are available by calling the box office on 01507 600350 (open Mon-Sat 10am-1pm) or visiting www.louthplaygoers.com.

Meanwhile, here is a tasty teaser trailer as we took a break from rehearsals this week…. Enjoy!
